During the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP 16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Tropenbos International will be participating through events and with a delegation of experts.
The 16th CBD COP, part of the UN Biodiversity Conference 2024, will be held in Cali, Colombia, from 21 October to 1 November. This version of the CBD COP will focus on implementation: how can the world deliver on the bold Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (or Global Biodiversity Framework) adopted at the COP 15. The negotiations will focus on key questions like monitoring, accountability, and, critically, resource mobilization for the implementation of the so-called National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) that each country must update.
Tropenbos International is contributing to this effort, with a focus on how locally-owned solutions can contribute to the accomplishment of the NBSAPs trough thriving, resilient and biodiverse landscapes where local communities exercise their rights and participate equitably in decision-making. At COP16, we will share knowledge and insights on topics like reducing wildfire risk, the role of youth, in traditional knowledge, transfer, and innovative finance for the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity in frontier landscapes.
Tropenbos International will be present with a delegation of experts whom through side events, presentations, discussions and guidance, will share insights from diverse expert voices on how locally-owned solutions can advance biodiversity action.
