No time to relax: Postponing the EUDR with 1-year should be used to resolve challenges on the ground

Following increasing global pressure and industry concerns, the European Commission proposed last week an extension to the phasing-in period for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Although this extension did not come as a surprise, it is unfortunate, and we urge the European Parliament and Council to stand firm. This proposal for a one-year extension should by no means result into reopening the EUDR decision process, with the severe risk of watering down the current law.
